January 30, 2008
Since Dec. 27, 2007, Kenya has been a country with great unrest. The riots that broke out late last December were the result of an election dispute. Nine hundred people have been killed and more than 250,000 have been displaced since the onset of violence.
On Monday night, Jan. 28, 2007 a young opposition leader by the name of Mugabe Were was killed as he drove up to his gate. This death and the subsequent uprising in response to this rumored assassination have further indicated the profound need for intercession to take place for the nation as a whole.
Please take time to pray for: continued protection and safety for our missionaries Garry and Brenda Kean and their family, God’s covering over the churches, pastors and church members, aid for thousands that have fled from their homes in fear of their lives and wisdom for Regional Representative to Africa Beto Paz. Intercede on behalf of the families that now find themselves in refugee camps, without steady access to basic necessities like water, shelter, blankets, etc. Pray that God will restore peace to the nation and for healing and reconciliation to take place between tribes (particularly the Kikuyu, Luo and Luyhia tribes).
Thank you for praying,
Mike Larkin
