Beto and Teri Paz
Area Missionaries to East and Central Africa
Humberto “Beto” is from Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. He came to the Lord under the ministry of Foursquare missionaries in the mid-1950s. In 1967, Beto graduated from the University of Nuevo Leon, Monterrey. Teri is from the Santa Maria, Calif., Foursquare Church. They both graduated from Life Bible College in 1971 and were sent out as Missionary Assists. After a year of service, they returned to the U.S. and were married.
In 1972, the couple worked to pioneer a Hispanic church in Denver for three years. In 1975, they were appointed as missionaries to Mexico, where they served for 19 years. During that time, Beto was the general supervisor; he developed training seminars, structured the national leadership, directed the Bible Institute, nurtured pastors, was instrumental in The Foursquare Church being officially recognized by the Mexican government, and served as president of the Regional Council of Churches of Mexico, Central America and Panama. Teri developed the national women’s ministry and taught in the Bible Institute. They also served as interim-pastors of several churches.
In July 1994, Beto was appointed FMI Regional Coordinator to the Americas, which comprised Central America, South America and the Caribbean. In this position, his tasks included: working with national leaders and national councils; coordinating leadership training; and managing budgets and overseeing missionaries. In recent years, the the couple has assisted in ministry at Santa Maria Foursquare, and were appointed as Area Missionaries to southern South America. In the fall of 2007, Beto and Teri were appointed as area missionaries in Africa, fulfilling a desire in both to serve peoples in Africa.
Beto and Teri have three daughters: Hilary, Bethany and Michelle. The two older girls are married, and Beto and Teri are blessed with one granddaughter, Alexa.
