Foursquare Youth OutreachInvest: 8-4-1
8-4-1 was started in 2000 based on the information that for every $8 given to Foursquare Missions International, one person is saved and discipled somewhere in the world through a Foursquare church. $8 for one soul! The money that is given is used to send out new missionaries, start new outreaches, build churches and bible schools, and to simply help people in need.
In the U.S., youth spend over $200 billion for personal items each year (snacks, soft drinks, entertainment and apparel) and would benefit greatly by learning to invest in God’s kingdom. There are over 20,000 youth in Foursquare churches in the U.S. and if every youth gave $8 a month for one year: nearly $2 million would raised and 240,000 people would come to Christ! Through a similar program at another denomination, youth raised $11 million last year for their missionaries. Imagine what our youth can do to make a difference for the kingdom of God! This can happen if districts, camp directors, pastors and leaders are on board with the 8-4-1 program.
There are several ways to participate in 8-4-1. First, enclosed is an 8-4-1 can label that can be put on the outside of a Pringles can and filled with bills and change by every youth. This can also be passed around youth group every week (One youth group gave $4,000 one year through doing this). Also, missions events or fundraisers are great way to raise money for 8-4-1. District camps are a great place to bring your full cans and many districts have youth missions offering goals that you may be able to partner with.
We are keeping accurate record of 8-4-1 giving so that we can report to your youth on their giving. When you collect funds, please make the checks payable to Foursquare Missions-841, and mail the check to Foursquare Missions International, Attn: Foursquare Youth Outreach, PO Box 26902, Los Angeles, CA, 90026. We will make sure that your church gets credit for giving and that your youth are recognized for their faithfulness. How to Use Your 8-4-1 Can Cover:
- Wrap it around a potato chip can (or a tennis ball can) and fill it with bills and change for missions.
- Put the can on your dresser (or on your mom and dad’s). Fill it up with change for several weeks at a time.
- Here’s a great idea! Get your youth group together and have a potato chip party. Your youth pastor may even be able to get them at a discount store for the entire youth group. Make it a fun time with movies and games as you devour your chips. Wrap your can with your 841 can cover and fill it with change as quickly as you can.
- Pray that our missionaries would be effective and strengthened. Your prayers will make a difference to change the world.
